Glad you made it here this week as I have more Thursday Doors to share from a backroad drive in March! This one makes me think of the Bible verse of being like the city on the hill, where your light shines for everyone to see. I haven’t quoted it exactly, but you can find it by reading Matthew 5: 14-16. If I were building a house in rural Missouri, being on the hilltop is definitely preferable. Also having a basement or storm cellar to boot! But first, a barn or 2.

These barns might blend in during a snow event except for those dark outlines of doors and windows. I mean, the shiny metal roof & mostly white siding are very monotone. Exactly the opposite of letting your light shine if I’m to stick with that theme for this post.

I love that wide expanse of front porch! And the roof line is appealing to me as well. Metal roof that doesn’t scream metal. Last of all, I cannot be completely certain, but my instinct tells me there’s a basement under some portion of the house. Being far from tornado warning sirens, it would be a must for this gal.
There you have it. My weekly Thursday Doors contribution. Hope you’ll visit Dan @NoFacilities as well for his doors as well as all the other participant doors. Don’t miss out!!

I’m sure that house has a basement, and I love the porch. I could sit out there and enjoy the breeze at the top of the hill while I sip some coffee (or…) and read a book, anything but the news.

I enjoy the stark presence of the house up on the hill. It looks large and remote which is intriguing for me, living in a neighbourhood where many of our our homes are smaller and barely three metres apart.

It’s probably been home to a large family in its early years. Who also I’m sure were essential for helping with farm work. Thanks for your viewpoint & thoughts. Appreciate them!

I have just had another peek and the first photo captioned ‘Hilltop Views’ is to me an outstanding composition.

I just noticed your reply. My apologies. Having that view was probably a much coveted piece of property to own. Thanks for your very kind compliment!

Beautiful sense of freedom of space in the hilltop views. Great photos. I love the view/perspective of the small mailbox against the lovely verandah in the background.
