Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mom’s out there, including mine! Mother’s Day is also a reminder to my dear hubby & I that we’ve made it through another year of wedded bliss. Some years it falls on Mother’s Day, but this year was on Friday. We made plans to do a bucket list item — saw one of our favorite 80’s bands. It was quite the blast from the past! So yes, this is a little detour from my regular Sunday Sampler. Just consider this a sample of what we still listen to when I have the quilter or sewing machine humming.
First was the opening act. Strangelove-The Depeche Mode Exerience. It blew us away! If you’d taken us into a room blindfolded, we would never have been able to tell any difference between the original and this tribute band. That’s when you know you are getting your full measure in an act. Not to mention seeing them perform! When we arrived, Ron said it smelled like Teen Spirit and bad perfume. But That was Not the Case for the performance. They are selling out. Need I say more? Well worth our drive in heavy rain for 3+ hours!

Following this remarkable performance, we were treated to the sounds of a true legend, Flock of Seagulls. With one original member still on tour, Mike Score delivered an outstanding show. I expected a laid-back audience, but I’m happy to say this generation did not sit back and act their age. Except for me & my date. Dancing days are over for my back and knees. The hubs used his cane. Enough said on that. Just considering what it has taken to get thru the last 3 years, (bone marrow transplant), we are super grateful for having these moments to celebrate. 1 in 5 bone marrow transplant patients survive. Terrible odds. Another reminder for us that God is Good!

Now for the sewing portion………

The hand sewing has been really getting some steam going! I haven’t photographed the trimmed & sandwiched version of that table runner above, but it has been ready to go for a few weeks now. If you’ve been here before, you may remember the prior projects that took priority. As for the thread, just can’t beat having a new color on hand.
Meanwhile, I was lucky to find 8 yards of fabric by Laundry Basket Quilts for Andover. It came in a bundle. On top of that, I added 3 yards of that top neutral fabric. You can never have enough neutrals. Thinking of that log cabin quilt I have wanted to dive into for so long. Many thanks to Quilters HQ in Olathe, Kansas for the online sale. Kudos for quick shipping too!
Glad you took time to dive on into this blog page and read this far! Hope your day has been and continues to be wonderful!!
