Churn Dash/ AtoZAprilBlogChallenge

During the month of April, I’m participating in the Blogging From A to Z Challenge for my 4th year in a row – 3 of which are on this blog. Each day, except Sundays, there will be a post for the letter of the day as well as keeping with my personal theme of Quilts and Quotes. Feel free to leave a comment! I’d love to hear from you! Also check out the other A to Z’ers in the comment section of the Official A to Z Blog Page.

Why the churn dash for ‘C’? It drew me in as a reminder of farm life. I remember my grandmother’s churn still on the shelf and seeing her take the cream off the top of her gallons of milk for that purpose. We nearly always bought fresh milk from our neighbor who raised Holsteins. Best milk in the county!

Real butter was all we ever knew and once Oleo or margarine came along, I distinctly recall my father saying “We must be poor if we can’t have real butter.” My mother would always have his butter available after that at all costs. But being the 40-hour-a-week-working mother, our butter was store-bought, not churned.

In the words of Paula Deen, “Life is too short for fake butter, cheese, or people”.

Daddy would have been her biggest fan, I’m convinced!

    • No worries then about stuff added to our food. Hardly ever sick either. I’ll blame either good luck, more fresh air, better food or all the above. lol Thanks for sharing!
