July 4th is nearly here when we’ll celebrate this nation’s 250th Independence Day. So I decided to do a Thursday Door post featuring our county courthouse. As an extra, thanks to the Pettis County Museum & Historical Society Facebook page, I have a view of the previous courthouse which was sadly destroyed by fire in 1920. It was completed in 1885.

Thankfully our fair city rebuilt the following building in 1925 as our current courthouse. The cost was said to be $285,500. This building is now 101 years old. Back in my day, you’d take your driver’s test here. Like a lot of things, things change. But it still is a hub of a lot of activity especially on courtdates and election days. I’ll take you inside for a future doors posts sometime.

Hope everyone who celebrates Independence Day in the USA has a wonderful weekend ahead! I’m hoping to finish my American Heritage Sampler top. Fingers crossed!! Til next time, please take time to stop over at Dan’s @NoFacilities for more doors from around the world. Thanks for stopping by!

I’m glad they rebuilt the courthouse and I’m glad they’ve kept that building in service.
