Sunday Sampler was a miss this weekend. (Hanging my head.) But I was elbow deep in perusing a box of magazines from my cousin. She lives in Blue Springs, Missouri, but visits here fairly regularly. We had a really nice hour-long visit on my front porch on Saturday before the humidity took off like a rocket. Catching up is such a nice way to spend an afternoon, don’t you think?

Just in case you are unaware, these magazines contain patterns for knitting, crocheting, tatting, embroidery, sewing, quilting, rug-making and weaving as well as recipes to cook and ideas for just about anything women were interested in creating. Plant and garden ideas were a popular question-and-answer section. I plan on sharing one such article with my sister on African Violets. She has quite a knack with them. There’s a “Junior Crafter” section in some issues for the kids that I would have enjoyed having when I had my daycare. sigh! And one year, an editor clearly had to share her love of cats. A section on cat stories went on for several issues. Seeing how it transitioned from the 1950’s to the 1990’s was like a history lesson in crafts.

Do I plan on doing all the things? Not possible. But I did jot down where to find the ideas I liked. Nothing wrong with dreaming, right?? Many thanks to my dear cousin who has such a sharing and kind spirit! You make the world a better place! Now I just need to figure out something to make for her.
