721 West 3rd Street

Both my husband and I noticed these doors on a drive down 3rd street at about the same time. And we decided to drive around the block and take a couple photos just to satisfy our curiosity about these doors. As you can see, the property has been converted for rental with the 3 mailboxes. But we were both wondering about those doors that appear original to this house. They obviously have an off set appearance like there’s been some level of effort to keep them. My applause to them for that. This home was built in 1900 according to online sources so these doors would likely have been appropriate to that era. I just have questions of why they constructed the outer layer like you see here? And clearly, they only open inwards. So many questions. And no answers for you I’m afraid.

Thanks for visiting this week’s contribution to Thursday Doors. Visit Dan @NoFacilities for more of the contributions for this photo challenge. Also need to note that he’s hosting the 6th annual Thursday Doors Writing Challenge for the whole month of May. Plenty of highly recommended reading to be found. Links in blue.
