Hospital Drive(s)

Today’s Thursday Doors features a location I’ve shared before. That being at the University of Missouri Hospital. But these are taken from different standpoints. Also, we were splitting our time between 3 hospitals on different days. Lots of healthcare going on in one week.

There’s a saying credited to Teddy Roosevelt that says “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” That’s about where I was this week with my Doors stash. However, we had a dry spell between some rainy days that allowed us to take a detour home. Looking forward to sharing those in the coming weeks. But until then, here’s a look at some time spent at 3 hospitals.

First stop was with my dear mother for a check up. She just had a major surgery in early February. The Boone Health buildings are spread apart with years of additions. The first hospital was first established in 1921 in response to the 1918 Influenza outbreak. At one point, this hospital was under the umbrella of BJC Health System (Barnes-Jewish) which is a hospital we are very familiar with in St. Louis.

Later this week, we were off to a very foggy start. Our destination was MU Hospital for a non-surgical procedure for my dear hubs. What was supposed to be a grueling 5-hour procedure turned into a mere 2 hours. Still a long day, but we considered it a small victory.

As I said, there were 3 hospitals. So my final photo is from the garage of the VA hospital. I chose to stay in the vehicle and sew hexies. I was serenaded by some very active blackbirds building nests and sounding like cars beeping. But no pics of the bird, sorry.

Thanks for dropping in this week! Looking forward to a non-eventful weekend. If you have the chance, take a few moments to visit Dan @NoFacilities for more Thursday Door entries from around the world. He currently has a great set of book out too! Check it out and see for yourself.
