Year’s Favorites for 2023

So it seems I had a lot of barn doors this year. And Dan @ No Facilities has asked for our personal favorites of 2023 for this last Thursday Doors post of the year. And what a year it has been! I have taken a cue from Inez and kept a journal to remind me of what I’d like to share later on. But for now, I have Doors.

I want to interject here a ‘thank you’ to my biggest cohort in door aquisitions, my youngest daughter. But also a thanks to my husband for always keeping an eye out and tolerating the window down with the breezes coming through the vehicle, the stares of folks wondering if we are insurance police or something, and also being tailed by farmers wondering what we are doing on ‘their road’. I pay taxes too buddy! And yes that happened once with a child in the back seat nonetheless! Also thanks once again to my dear penpal, Marit for sharing her homeland, Norway. Guess what?! I have Norwegian ancestry so that has made it even more meaningful. Tussen takk min vinn! Now on with the show!

Family owned since 1853!

Look at that plow in front of the sign! What did they do for sore muscles back then???? And of course, 2 words, Barn Quilt.

I chose this as a favorite
because the advertisements are becoming scarcer with each coming year as barns deteriorate.

This last one is my favorite of 2023 with its’ open door policy. Somehow I imagine the owners enter with a pitchfork in hand ‘just in case’. And the patina on that wood is something only time can create. I just love it.

I would be lax if I did not say how much I appreciate this venue to share Doors each week! Thanks Dan @ No Facilities and in case you didn’t know, he has some great books out. See his link above for more information.
