Little 9 Patches/ Tuesday Threads

I am back after a little bit of travel. My apologies for the lack of a Sunday Sampler post. It was a whirlwind drive to Kansas and a stay overnight was required due to inclement weather. In fact a tornado (EF2) touched down for a mere 2 minutes and completely obliterated a manufactured home. Our sincere sympathies to the family of the life lost. And then there was the water. They closed the highway just south of our location and were doing water rescues. The weather this year has certainly caught many off-guard and I hope it will bring more awareness to staying prepared. Lesson of the day that is worth sharing with your loved ones.

Traveling through the Flint Hills on our way to our family is something to behold this time of year. The green, the big, blue sky, the prairie breezes and the endless miles and miles of billowy clouds. Heaven must be like this.

The specks are cows in the water. We used to have cattleman’s warnings on the radio as cows would get stranded/stuck in ponds. Now it’s all on our phones.
The clouds making shadows on the grasses in the distance make this landscape view ever-changing.

Progress on the American Heritage Sampler continues. This post will contain the cornerstones. They are red and white and the quilt requires 36 of them. Following are a series of photos that show the method to the madness. I want to note how excited I am to make my next quilt with the AccuQuilt! The time I’m going to save cutting fabric is pretty exciting to think about! This quilt pattern is Accu Quilt friendly but I hadn’t purchased mine until the cutting was done. Sigh!

Next up are a bazillion Flying Geese blocks. The plus side is they are all cut out and ready to go. Come back again next week for more (hopefully) progress on my USA 250 quilt project. The end of the tunnel is in sight and no, there is not a set of train lights coming. Thanks so much for dropping in this week!
