Another trip to the various appointments this week kept me a little busy. But I happily note that one trip was to the post office to deliver a Hexi Table Runner to mail! I hope they love it!
Upon returning home, we drove a few different streets than our norm. The end of one street had the following lovely old ‘Dame’ sitting front and center at the stop sign. Today I present 424 South Grand in it’s dazzling, Italianate splendor. It was built in 1881 and is part of the Victorian Towers neighborhood. According to a local “2021 Victorian Towers Historic Architectural Survey”, it is considered the best example of the Italianate style in our city.

I really admire the yellow and blue color combination on this wonderful old home. The trees shading it seem to make it look so inviting. A porch like that one is beckoning me to sit and hang out with my iced tea! Hope you are encouraged with these doors to click the link to Dan’s @NoFacilities where you will find even more wonderful doors from around the world!

Lovely doors. That table runner is amazing. I can’t imagine the work involved in putting that together. I once did a business graphic with hexagons and I had trouble managing the process in Adobe Illustrator, where I could copy, paste and move things around with a mouse! Great job!

Thank you! I have not been into the Hexi projects very long but really enjoy when they come together well. Also like the excuse to put my feet up lol

Great photos of a grand house. I love the color, the porch and how the trees add to the home’s charm. Thank you for the historical context. I love to learn about architecture. The houses of the Victorian era have a unique softness of style and symmetry, I feel.

Thank you Suzette. With all the architectural advancements of today, there is still nothing like one of these old homes that have stood the test of time and still have so much appeal.
