Broadway & Grand, Plus a Reveal

The Badge

The following Thursday Doors photo has been a long time in the works. The house sits at a busy intersection so timing is everything. But on this day, all the planets aligned for me.

At one point, this home was a place that operated a hypnosis business. I have only ever been hypnotized once at a concert by a very flamoyant concert attendee who was flinging her rain-soaked headscarf in circles. Closest (and much too close) I’ve ever been to that. 😉 Personal space is important to me, apparently.

Reveal below

My latest quilt is now in the shop. I did a video and performed Hernando’s Hideaway on the Fender for your listening enjoyment. Only a partial performance, so you’ll only have to spare 31 seconds. For a blast from the past, you could find that song performed in 1954 by Archie Bleyer’s Orchestra & Chorus. However, I am partial to this string version.

  1. Best reveal ever! Hernando and that beautiful quilt! I remember “Hernando’s Hideaway” from “Pajama Game” about a thousand years ago. When I was in college (also about a thousand years ago), I learned that Carl Sandburg’s “Stopping by Woods” could be sung to “Hernando’s Hideaway.” Higher education at its highest. Thanks for the good start to my day!

  2. I was just sitting here contemplating what a miserable day it was when it hit me: Robert Frost, not Carl Sandburg! Apparently my coffee hadn’t kicked in when I sent my comment earlier. Nonetheless, the poem does fit the song. I don’t know what Frost would think about it. For that matter, I don’t know what Sandburg would think about it either!

    • Fun fact, I spent many moments sitting on my grandparents’ front porch on Broadway (this street) watching the cars go by. It’s a worthwhile pasttime. 🙂 Thanks for visiting!
