Domino Net/ #AtoZChallenge

During the month of April, I’m participating in the Blogging From A to Z Challenge for my 4th year in a row – 3 of which are on this blog. Each day, except Sundays, there will be a post for the letter of the day as well as keeping with my personal theme of Quilts and Quotes. Feel free to leave a comment! I’d love to hear from you! Also check out the other A to Z’ers in the comment section of the Official A to Z Blog Page.

Countless games could have been the reason I chose this block. But after thinking on it, I believe it represents a part of my husband’s career as a supervisor directly after obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree. His short time working at a newly opened casino was full of stories every night upon his return home. I always looked forward to listening to his “adult” day after I’d been home with 10 children for 11 hours, Monday thru Friday, all week. Those tales brought me back to the real world. Or at least I thought.

Now that he’s retired and home with me during my work day, I know how lucky we are to be “adulting” as childcare givers to the next generation. There are so many fond memories and hundreds of cherished photos to remind us. The early years are such tender ones for anyone who’s helped raise a child. We caregivers from all walks of life really are the first domino tile in a child’s life.

  1. What a beautiful block! I haven’t seen that one before. At first I thought that the pieces must be miniscule but realised after I did some counting that they were 1.5″ cut squares and it didn’t seem quite so fiddly. I am looking forward to seeing your blockst together

    • Thank you! Yes its pretty small pieces. Not sure I’d want to do the 6 inch size for a whole quilt of this one. lol A 12 inch block would be much more efficient. But I may yet have to do a ‘color book’ layout of it to see what it would look like.
