Memorial Presbyterian Church/ Thursday Doors

2023 Badge

I feel fortunate with this week’s photo contribution for Thursday Doors! My youngest went on a well-deserved vacation to Florida this past summer. She and some friends shared a lodging in St. Augustine. Being a history buff, she planned most of her time there to see this historic area. And as she often does, she kept her eye out for her mother’s door needs. Much thanks to her thoughtfulness (& a mama hug).

So this group of pics is of the Memorial Presbyterian Church. Per Wikipedia: The Memorial Presbyterian Church is a historic church constructed in St. Augustine, Florida, in 1889 by American industrialist Henry Morrison Flagler. It is located at 32 Sevilla Street.

Flagler is buried at the church and I’ve included this first door that’s his burial place. He was pretty instrumental in developing areas along the Florida coast. Also helped that he was a co-founder of Standard Oil Company. An interesting guy to learn about. I hope you will enjoy the following photos.

Thanks once again for stopping by! I hope you’ll visit our host Dan @NoFacilities for more wonderful doors from around the world. It’s worth the detour!

  1. Many thanks to your daughter for these fantastic images. I love them all, really. The side angle of the door’s entryway with the columns in the forefront and the image of the bell tower are superb perspectives. The facade is quite beautiful and unique, very ornate but not overly so. A beautiful church and memorial. A great share.

    • I appreciate your kind words and just read them to her☺️ She has such a good eye with a camera! Not that I’m biased or anything (but I am haha) Thank you!

  2. You have a good right to be biased, these are great photos. I was in St. Augustine several years ago, but I didn’t have much time to explore. I wasn’t far from this church, but I guess I missed it. It’s good to see it now. Thanks to your talented daughter.
