Yesterday was Saturday, a day spent at home in which I should have accomplished more than I did. I am caregiver for my dear hubby, and daughters are grown adults now. So, other than helping my next door mom (Mother-in-law) tie down her items on her porch from the 30mph winds, it was a day pretty much open to getting something accomplished. And there was at least one accomplishment…….

But the binding is the quickest part and only took, maybe, 30 minutes since I already had it prepared. So next, I approached the following project which was a mere potholder that I made from fabric remnants. I make these quilt sandwiches to check the stitch tension on my quilter. I typically use 2 layers of batting so they’re ready for finishing into hotpads and trivets or other small projects. I like them to be extra plush.

The fabric above is a Kaffe Fassett fabric. Because of the color scheme, I spent wayyyy too much time trying to find the perfect matchy-matchy fabric for the binding. Black seemed too easy. And besides, black can come in different shades, in case you weren’t aware. Long story short, I had the binding I needed all along. See the finished photo next.

I don’t know about other fabric enthusiasts out there, but the color wheel is not something I normally refer to. After all that mental drama, maybe I should start? Seems like a much better option than opening and closing every, single, solitary fabric storage container. Sheesh!

If you have ever looked at the variety and types of Kaffe fabric out there, you would understand that I truly wonder if he has ever referred to color wheels. Try googling images of his fabrics sometime. The imagination he must have! No disrespect intended. I love his fabrics! I was commissioned to make a tumbling block quilt that included one of his fabrics.

That one is still one of my favorites that used the paisley fabric by KF. Hoping to make another one in the future. But til then, my message of the day is ‘Don’t overthink things’. In the words of Mark Twain,

“Worrying is like paying a debt you don’t owe.”
