Soooooo, I think I jinxed myself. Was planning to post a first for me — an entry in the TDWC for 2024. But in a cleaning event (range hood filters) I cut a critical finger. It’s not really anything to cry about except it’s one of those little cuts that doesn’t like to go without a bandaid very long — if you know what I mean? And so I’m thankful there’s one more Thursday left for my chance to enter. When/if you read my entry, you will understand what I mean about the finger. Obviously, I can type. But there’s more for my entry than typing and I hope you’ll be back to find out more.
I seem to be in a learning phase this week. There were the sharp edges on the range hood, and then trying to understand how to trade computers to make my label maker work.
Guess you had to be there to know what was going on with photos above. Figured it out and saved me a lot of hassle in sending a birthday gift!! Boy was I relieved!! And then I learned a new technique. See below:
Board basting is a tabletop quilt technique discovered via YouTube by my hubs. This is going to save my knees and back so much aggravation! He deserves an award for this! Also shared my friend who looks so sweet in the middle photo. But to be honest, she just wanted to capture the arrow that moves around the screen. 😉 And as you can see, we were about to enjoy some goodness from Wichita. Melted-in-our-mouths flat iron steak! So wonderful to behold!! Thanks Rachel & Wes!!! But now, on to the meat of the post, the Doors.

Great doors and interesting photos. I must admit a preference for meat over quilting, but I do appreciate learning a new technique for doing work.

My sympathies to your finger! I can’t imagine much time with a banjo until that’s healed up! I love those open spaces in your photos. A body can take a deep breath there.

Gotta love that steak! I grew up in Kansas😉 And also those barns! My family has a 121-year-old farm in Central Illinois and oh, the histories those barns hold and stories they can tell! In the barn on my family’s farm, I can find farm tools and other accoutrements dating back four generations. Such a wonderful connection to the past, to relatives who passed before I was born.

Oh no! I hate finger cuts! They always seem to be some of the worst bleeders. I remember I cut mine while cooking once. I thought I was in the clear after a day or so, but then it started bleeding again while I was asleep. The blood soaked through my mattress and I had to call an upholstery cleaner to get out the stains haha

Isn’t it just strange how that works ?! Thanks for sharing your experience. My life has been such a dumpster fire this past year with one thing after another. My poor mother fell Wednesday at her home and broke her hip. I probably need to post another update. Hoping to make that happen this evening or tomorrow. Your visit reminded me so many thanks!! ☺️
