The Distance in 25 Blocks/ Tuesday Threads

If a person were to walk 25 blocks, it would take about 20 – 30 minutes for each one. And with the benefit of hindsight, that’s usually how long each quilt block takes to assemble. But that’s not counting cutting the fabric pieces—or those times you mess up and have to get out the seam ripper. But to save you the time in doing the math, I’ve calculated how much time this equals. 750 minutes or 12.5 hours is the time it took me to finish assembling all of these blocks. That feels about right. Here’s the final one:

And for a look at the blocks in order from 1 to 25:

Completed blocks for the American Heritage Sampler. Shortened the title on my phone when I was in a hurry.

This week was spent making that one block as well as utilizing some fabric I just purchased for making more binding to match potholders. It’s getting easier to order fabric than to spend money on gas to buy it in the store these days, sadly. And speaking of being frugal, I managed to reassemble some batting scraps for use in future projects. There is a before and after photo for you.

Not sure what the wonky size difference is all about but there you are. I will have batting for more of those quilt sandwiches I mentioned in the latest Sunday Sampler post or I’ll have a swatch for a table runner or mini quilt. There are many options but these are my usual go-to uses. Why be so frugal? I once read a statement that said when you’re saving a dollar, you’re buying more choices. I kinda like how that makes me sound so smart 😉 For me it is all about saving money and throwing away less.

Thanks for dropping in for Tuesday Threads! Wishing you a pleasant day ahead.
