This week’s feature for Thursday Doors will not be in existence before much longer. According to locals, the property was purchased for demolition to create a block-long Quik Trip convenience store. Sadly, this building is unique in its style and I really find it to be a shame that it will suffer the fate prescribed. Also, it’s hard to get a good photo with the location at a very busy intersection of two US Highways, 50 & 65.

Two sources gave timeframes of when this was built. One noted 1947 and ther other 1953. I chose the later just to be on the safe side. A little bit of background information is that the most recent occupant was an architect. Prior to that it was a local union ‘office’ for lack of better term. Without going in person to our Recorder of Deeds, I won’t be able to tell you much more unfortunately. But I do have a screenshot pic to give you another view of the building thanks to Google.

According to my sources, as soon as the New Verizon location is open, demolition will begin on these 2 and at least one other building on the block. If that didn’t actually happen, I would not be disappointed for the record. I just think it’s a very cool building. In addition, it even has a basement for the tornado alley we reside in.
