For some unknown reason, I left today’s Thursday Doors out of one of my previous posts. But in all fairness, it is a great stand-alone. So a little history first.
Built back in 1937 as a WPA (Works Progress Administration) project, this baseball stadium is still in use each summer. It’s located within Liberty Park, one of Sedalia’s 7 city parks. In 2024/25, the stadium underwent renovations to put in an all-turf field, new seating, upgraded restrooms, and new fencing to give it the 1930’s wooden fence look. Currently, it’s home to the M.I.N.K (Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas) League team, the Sedalia Bombers.
A wonderful little article highlites the importance of these old stadiums of Pre WWII. Hope you’ll give it a read. It’s taken from the site of Fort Hays State University.
Hope this post gets you in the mood for some baseball. To get you in the mood for more Doors, check out Dan @NoFacilities for more wonderfulness!
A couple vintage patterns are the newest listings for those interested in classic patterns.

“Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas” is pretty big area. Must be tough being the Away team. I love the snowmen playing baseball. Great photos of the stadium.

Thank you! I am happy to say I’ve had several young children from my past daycare grow up to play ball in that stadium ☺️

“Peeking through the Knothole” — what a great title! Those are some really good night shots of the stadium. Wonderful to preserve that history.
