I thought I’d write ahead of the clipping this time. I want to explain that I have had to do research on some of the humor of the 1930’s. I didn’t, for instance, have any idea what Blanc Mange had to do with a mountain in Europe. I blame my landlocked, rural existence in central Missouri. Well, this photo will explain that the writer was probably not a fan of this food.

I can imagine a young boy looking at that dessert and thinking of it as a major challenge to even taste it! So yes, it turned out to be kind of funny. Deferring to my years as a childcare provider, the only person eating that dessert would have been me. The boys would have played with it like it was playdoh. And guess who would be cleaning up the mess?! Yours truly.

So to the young mothers out there, I dedicate this clipping of Inez’s. She had 5 children and so I can imagine between her years as a one-room schoolhouse teacher and her years of motherhood, this set of one-liners was pretty funny for her too. Hope you enjoy!
