I’m happy to say my efforts to protect Grandma Inez’s transplanted peonies have survived some pretty cold events this winter here in Mid-Missouri. The first year of being restarted is often when plants are most vulnerable. These have now been moved for the 4th time in their lifespan. My dear sister & I split these cuttings and both of us saw them come up this spring. Pretty early for them I will say. But when you have a couple 80-90 degree days, it doesn’t take long for the ground to warm up. We both were so relieved that our green thumbs got us thru the transplant transition.
In other news, I found a way to use up some more of those fabric scraps. As the title says, I am sharing a quilting option. Many don’t realize the various items you can create with quilted fabric. And when quilting, you have to check the thread tension when changing bobbins. Or at least I find it very helpful to do so. But the downside is that you’re left with portions of quilted fabric that pile up. And being the frugal type, I try to find ways to use these pieces.
Also, I needed a gift for a dear cousin who turns 60 this coming week. Her loving family is having a surprise party for her and I unfortunately cannot attend. But I wouldn’t miss gifting her something to remember her special day! Heck no! And with her being an RN, my use of mask-making scraps from the Pandemic seemed like the thing to do. So sharing a gallery of the process. Note: I have not inserted a zipper in a very, long time. Some stitch-ripping occurred, but thankfully did not result in tossing the theme fabric. Whew!

And naturally, you can decipher that the end result was a zipper pouch. Great for travel, makeup bag and so many other things. This one has some spending money inside. It’s superstitious to gift a bag without money. So we must keep those silly beliefs away! 🙂
Hope you enjoyed the latest Sunday Sampler post. Looking forward to having you back again next week when I share more offerings from my sewing room!
