Hello once again from the Katy Trail! Thanks goes out, first of all, to Dan for the combined badge idea. I’ve been absent for a few weeks and this will keep life simpler. Much appreciated!
A few weeks flew by with much going on around here. Helping my dear mother move is a whole process. We have had 2 yard sales and she’s having another one tomorrow. Makes me ready to sell all my possessions before I have to leave this task to my own children. I really don’t want to do that to them. Who really needs so many things anyway?! My purge is already in process but will continue with more fervor.
Of course there are still dr. visits. We recently learned a couple ways to avoid the interchange of I-70 & I-64. Won’t be a secret now, but we have been taking Hwy. N as a route to stay away from the bogged down traffic. I’m happy to report that we found a few cool buildings– barns in this case– to snap along the way. These are drive-by photos so please excuse the window glare & dirt.

I see WordPress still has blur when I try to add captions. So I’ll just say this about the photos. Highway N is a pretty drive. As you can see there are more rural scenes the further down the road you go. It made me smile to see the chicken run in the first photo. Second shows all the trees that should be showstoppers once foliage changes. And then the last photo of the red barn. Quintessential paint color and a new tin roof. Can you see all the vines growing along the back? Could be honeysuckle or another ivy. I would be for removing it pretty soon though. It is hard on structures.
New in the shop this week is a Double Wedding Ring quilt. Lap-size for use as either a wall hanging or more for keeping warm with the cold days coming up. It has some tropical fabrics incorporated, especially noticeable in the cornerstones. Gives it a very bright, cheerful vibe. I like how it turned out.
Recorded with the help of my Dear Hubby! He’s pretty darn great 😉
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend coming up & beautiful weather to go along with it! Thanks as always for stopping by!

Thank you for the wonderful rural scenic tour. Great photos. Love the two sheds being put to good use with lots going on.

I love seeing barns! I don’t wish you more doctor visits, but I would enjoy seeing that road as the leaves change. That quilt is beautiful. I can’t imagine the work involved, but it turned out great. I also have to add that I love finding ways around traffic. I spent the last two years before I retired finding better ways to come home.

Not at all. I’ve even had some nice adventures after getting lost.

An alternate route that avoids a heavily traveled highway is always a plus for me. Love the barn, and the quilt is gorgeous. Hope it finds the perfect home.

That Highway N would definitely be my preferred way to go anywhere! Congrats for finding a better way. The photos are remarkably good given that they were taken on the go. The Reveal was great — what impressive special effects! And beautiful quilt. Good luck with the Mom Move. Even with all the sales, it’s a lot of work.

Thank you for the kind compliments. Mom move has inspired me to get a grip on my own surroundings…..as in purging!! lol Thanks for dropping by!!

that does look like a great highway – and I am also 100% in favor of removing vines and growth from structures – and agree it is hard on the foundation and overall structure

Thanks! I hate to admit I like the old vines on old brick building look but I know they are damaging to them.

yes – and i wonder if “some” vines are less damaging to old brick structures? hmmm

I’m not that informed on types of vines I’m afraid. lol But very interesting thought.
