Variety Vamped Up/Letter V

Letter V

Welcome to this year’s A to Z Challenge! This year I’m talking Child Care. I’ll be blogging topics related to my many years in the family home daycare profession. I hope you can find a tidbit of information that is useful in caring for children whether you’re a parent, grand or another important person in a child’s life. And to end each post, I’ll share a bit of my creative side/relaxation time. Taking time for yourself is good for your health–both yours and your family’s 😉

You know the old saying–“Variety is the spice of life”. It cannot be more true than in a home daycare setting. You most certainly need a schedule, but keep a variety of action plans for any one day. The plan You had may not be the one that works. Children often take the wheel whether you’re ready or not.

One way I implement this is by making myself a Super List. I keep them in, of course, another spiral bound notebook. It covers just about the whole page and then some more on the back. Usually but not always, if I’m on task, the ones we accomplish get marked off. And the rest? Well I save them for future use. I kinda save everything childcare related to be perfectly honest here.

The sampling below is for a few days of Letter U & V plus looks like I inserted a story theme as well. Mouse Paint was the choice that particular week and I have no idea why it was placed alongside the letters U & V other than we possibly needed work on color recognition?? It’s obvious that the Dramatic Play event with the Vet Prop Box was the crème de la crème of that week.

Thankful today for a special request mediated by my sister. I had this awesome fabric I bought mainly because it had banjos on it. If you know me, you know I’m partial to them. Anyway, the recipient is a barber. Score! And also thankful for the thread tower that was a Christmas present from one of my daughters. It has been uber helpful since there is a thread shortage. Yeah, you read that right. Shortage on white thread is a thing. It just keeps going.

Hope you’ll take time to check out other A to Z blogs in the month on April. Click here to find the list. Click here for the Official A to Z blog. Have a great day and stay safe!!

    • I’m going to need to pull from my use of lists once we reopen. Lots of changes in how we keep everyone safe. Kinda worried. And yes thread was the last thing I worried about back in March. Who knew?!
