Welcome this week to a fairly simple Thursday Doors entry from Mid-Missouri–specifically Sedalia, Missouri.

The picture above was taken as we took a detour one day. It’s been so long ago that I can’t tell you why. Maybe a semi had the road blocked in front of this building? Obviously this is from the archives since my memory fails me. But it caught my eye and so I took a couple pics.

I can’t add a ton of info about this building but I’ll give you what I know. From my hubby’s days of working here when it was a hardware store, he’s told me that upstairs had apartments, and in the basement, there were tunnels that went under the street. He had the pleasure of lugging 25 gallon crocks (see below) to the first floor when they went out of business.

Jersey Cow, free advertising today. You’re welome.
My last memory of going through the doors as a hardware store was when I did the wedding registry thing back in ’87. Just a couple days ago ya know?!
Please take some time to visit the other wonderful Thursday Doors over at Norm 2.0 by clicking here. He’ll guide you to the links. Thanks for visiting!
You had a wedding registry at a hardware store? You’re our kinda gal! 😀 Love all the ghost windows!

Nice find. It looks like the entire facade was painted with the same rust color. I sure wouldn’t want to be the poor guy who had to paint all of that 😉

A wedding registry at a hardware store – that’s amazing. I’d say your husband is a lucky man.

I’d guess your husband would still be hauling crocks if he could get $575 a piece for them.
