February of 2011/Thursday Doors

I was reminded of a memory by FaceBook of a Smilebox I’d created back in the early days of my membership to that social media site. Little did I know then that I’d captured several doors and some winter scenes to boot. I did you all a favor and removed the music. I find that it isn’t as appealing to everyone else’s taste. So you’re welcome 🙂

Hope you enjoy this slice of Missouri of February 2011.

Year’s Favorite/#AtoZChallenge

During the month of April, I’m participating in the Blogging From A to Z Challenge for my 4th year in a row – 3 of which are on this blog. Each day, except Sundays, there will be a post for the letter of the day as well as keeping with my personal theme of Quilts and Quotes. Feel free to leave a comment! I’d love to hear from you! Also check out the other A to Z’ers in the comment section of the Official A to Z Blog Page.

If you search ‘Favorite’ on Pinterest, you get a slew of favorites from the whole wide world. The same goes with other search engines across the Internet. The possibilities are endless. But add “Year’s” to the search and it narrows down only slightly. I could list favorite recipes, quotes (but I’m already doing that daily), spaces, clothes, movies, blogs, actors, restaurants, songs, singers and on and on and on. But for today, I’m sharing a tune from my ‘Gibson’ for my favorite girls, my beautiful daughters. I’m proud of you both and come what may, you will always be my favorites!

As for the Year’s Favorite Quilt block,…..

It’s a favorite for sure!

Quote as promised:

In the end, it’s not the year’s in your life that count,  It’s the life in your years.   Abraham Lincoln

Join me again tomorrow for more of the April A to Z Blog Challenge 2017!

It’s Time for a Smilebox

Thinking back on Kirsten’s Senior year. I decided it calls for a Smilebox. I have recently learned a version of Moon River written by Henry Mancini for the banjo. Pardon my feeble attempts but I did my best.

The lyrics *google them* seem appropriate to a graduate’s future (and we happen to love Audrey Hepburn)

I hope you’ll enjoy our trip down memory lane:

While Waiting on the Laundry…..

It’s Saturday…
The Kids are Away….More on that later.
I blocked and starched this:

So also “waiting for the paint to dry” besides the laundry. That’s a

Bavarian lace-style  block in case ya didn’t know.

So then….. talked on the phone for 45 minutes to my sister. Didn’t mention the work in progress was looking like this….IMG_2156

It’s a sore subject right now. Let’s just say I’ll continue it later.

And changed my Facebook cover photo.

001 collage (1)

And the laundry continues.

Happy Saturday everyone!

A Hunter Family Kind of Christmas

Wikipedia has a definition for “what we do” each year for our family Christmas party:
A white elephant gift exchange is a holiday party game found primarily in North America. Generally, white elephant parties need a minimum of six participants. With a larger group, game play may be more protracted. White elephant parties have been known to result in playful rivalries between players trying to get sought after gifts. The goal of a white elephant party is usually to entertain rather than to gain.
While the term “white elephant” originally referred to a less-than-serious gift, its association with this particular game has become synonymous in some circles, such that the game itself is commonly called a White Elephant Gift Exchange.

The 3rd Annual Persimmon Report

Previously I have had annual Persimmon Reports that predict the weather as shown inside a seed of the Persimmon fruit. Check out the link above for a great explanation of how the folklore works.

I decided to share this year in a colorful slideshow for a view of our beautiful Katy Trail.

My back yard.

Hope you enjoy!
