From an Inez’s Clipping 97 years ago, The Farm Journal posted an article on quilt blocks. It showcases Old & New quilt designs. Some of the design names are Balkan Puzzle, Four Square, Double T, The Attic Window just to name a few. The one that sits in the bottom corner is called The Spirit of St. Louis and the color combination back then would not have raised any eyebrows. Fast forward about 8-10 years and the quilt block would have likely been done in other colorways, such as blues, greens or purples. When you see the photo, I’m pretty sure you’ll understand my meaning.
I wish the page was available to me (pg. 76) that tells the prices for those quilt patterns. That would be quite interesting to compare to today’s pattern prices to say the least.
To bring you up-to-date on my latest big project, the queen-size Double Wedding Ring quilt, I have a photo collage to share.
If you zoomed in on the orange post-its in the basket, you’d see that I’ve had quite a bit of cutting this past week. Due to some tendon issues in my thumb, it took a little longer than I would have liked. And, as I was recently asked, No, I don’t own an Accu-Quilt machine. I may need to start a Go-Fund-Me account for one of those. 😉
So there was a Lot of Rotary Cutting for me. The good news, Dear Hubs bought me a set of titanium Guggenhein blades for my birthday. They. Cut. Like. Butter. Did I mention I cut 8 layers at one point?? Well I did. My testimony for this Sunday.
Hope you’ll check back often and see what else is going on here on Katy Trail Creations!
