How’d It Go?/ Sunday Sampler

Sunday Sampler

The season to begin Christmas shopping officially opened yesterday here in Central Missouri at the Windsor Septemberfest 2017. We were stationed at the Windsor Elementary School gymnasium in Windsor, Missouri, respectfully, along with many other crafters from around the region. Mother, my husband, and I were set up by the 8:45 am deadline.

Special thanks to our family and friends that showed up to help out, purchase or even just say hello! We loved seeing you!

Windsor September 17

Mother’s jams, jellies and salsas are a main attraction each time we attend an event.

Kerchiefs are a great seller on Etsy and they get lots of Ooh’s and Aah’s during the day.

Going to be in the Etsy shop by end of today.

And then I have a little collage of the ‘Sold’ items.

A common denominator to purchases at these venues seems to be the desire to find that One of a Kind item. Even the LuLaRoe seller behind our booth tended to know this little tid bit. Nothing seemed to have a duplicate.

So, Sellers of the Land, let it be known that mass produced items are not in huge demand to small-town USA (exceptions: candles and other great scented items). I hope this trend continues because buying handmade truly supports small businesses.

Last Craft Show/Thursday Doors

WindsorDec6.jpg

The best stuff is pretty much picked over by the time Mother and I enter the doors at our last craft show of the year. There’s not much more to do but endure 6 hours of “Wait N See”. Thanks to the fine citizens of Windsor, Mo and Henry County who turned out to help us make a little profit. Small Business Saturday ended on a positive note for us.

And to keep my time spent in Windsor even more constructive, I took a few door pics since we still had an hour of daylight left.

This is a Windsor, Missouri landmark. You have to drive past it to get to downtown if you’re driving in from the East. I believe it’s a well house.

Right on the Katy Trail is a caboose all decked out for Christmas. The side view is painted with Old Glory highlighting the Spirit of ’76. Bit of info about Windsor….They celebrated their 150th annivesary in 2005.

The least used door in Windsor? Let’s just say the rest of the building is not so ramshackle. They are visibly just going for a vine look on the north side of this building.

And it’s for Sale!!

Transition

Just after our last craft show today when leaving Windsor, Missouri (population 2858 respectively), we saw the entrance of winter in the form of thousands of Canadian geese. The transition to winter this year is definitely abrupt in Central Missouri.

Hand Embroidered Flour Sack Towels

She’s my teacher when it comes to sewing and embroidery, canning, and making jelly & jam. In our community, her jellies and jams are much sought after year round. She’s currently working on some Cherry jam. It won’t sit on her shelf long. We have our first craft show on August 30th and I would take bets on whether she sells out. Cherry and Gooseberry are her top sellers.

So local people, get in line early. You won’t be disappointed!

My next question….Can I get her to sell Jams online??? We shall see. 🙂

Kick Off December

Yesterday was the end of November and the end of our craft show season. The weather was beautiful and I still sold some cowls!!

Thanks to Aunt Maybelle for sharing a photo of Ron, Mother and me at our last show for 2013 in Windsor, Missouri

I now have a significant stockpile of items for Etsy. I will begin photographing them for posts very soon. In fact, we began last night with a pic of Rachel modeling a cowl.
