This photo was taken January 17, 2021 and is the last of one batch donated by Kirsten. But do not fear, she’s been on a new photo binge for me. With this church, I want to make sure there’s no mistaken identity. Richland Christian Church is not located in Richland, Missouri. It is located just south of Glasgow and West of Fayette in central Missouri. For the record, Missouri has its fair share of slave-related history, this being one. But please, save political/unfriendly comments. I’m just sharing the church signage. The sign reads:
“Richland Church was established in 1816. First structure was built of logs. Located about center of current cemetery. Reverend Billy Burton was pastor and requested he be buried at church door. His gravestone located in cemetery. One and one-half acres ground deeded for church and cemetery in 1833 and another log house built about present location. In 1857-58 a frame building erected by slaves, on same location. This building was erected 1925-26, dedicated July 11, 1926.”
Thank you for visiting again this week. Hope you’ll head over to see Dan at No Facilities for the rest of the Thursday Doors entries.
This is a lovely little church. I love the doors, and the way the entrance looks. I really like the interesting arch detail at the top of the steeple and atop the windows and door.

What an attractive church and that steeple top is unlike any I’ve ever seen.

It’s a tin roof if I’m not mistaken. They really last if done correctly. Thanks for visiting 😊

Pretty little building. I’ve never seen a steeple shaped like that on a church. Very unusual roof design.

I agree. It’s not the usual. I’m glad my daughter was watching out for this unique photo op. 🙂 Thank you for visiting. I’ll be checkin in later this weekend. Got behind on my sewing jobs.
