Scrap busting is my goal much of the time when sewing. I put those scraps to use in string blocks and sometimes they end up as hot pads, trivets, mug rugs, whichever you prefer to call them. In essence, we all want to protect our furniture and hands. Plus they make a great addition to a gift basket.
Here are a few examples that are quick to disappear at my craft booth each Fall.
Cotton batting is sandwiched between the layers to keep fingers, counters and tables from getting scorched. The backing is normally denim from outgrown/overused (ripped) blue jeans. But any 100% cotton fabric will work.

Baked potato bags seem to be a “hot” item at the craft fairs I’ve been to. I look for seasonal table runners.

I sell those potato bags and either mom or I sometime have table runners. Depends on our creative schedules 😉

It appears you are a very crafty lady! Been blog browsing. 🙂 I don’t do any crafts since I had to go to work full time to support my family, But I love the idea of this. Simple, easy, peasy! You can even grab scrap material in stores for cheap. Or I tend to stain shirts, so one could cut scarps out of the back that wasn’t stained. Long and short of it, it’s an easy way to add a little something personal to any gift! I adore it! Happy AtoZing!
