I Saw the Light

The quilts above are my “keepers” Gonna show the ones I’ve given away later. You will see I don’t keep many. After all, “It’s better to give than to receive”.

Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Ever wonder about this hymn? There are about 4 songs I have requested to play frequently and this is one of them. And one I never have to read music for 🙂

Wikipedia has a pretty good informative summary on the writer and singer Hank Williams who is responsible for this beautiful song. Link here: I Saw the Light

A Hank cool quote:
“I was a pretty good imitator of Roy Acuff, but then I found out they already had a Roy Acuff, so I started singin’ like myself.”

That’s how I’m approaching this blog challenge. Just being myself.

  1. I love the quilts. I’ve made only one, but if I really got into quilt making, I wouldn’t be able to give them away. There are just too many wonderful designs. “I Saw the Light” is a cheerful and peppy song that should be sung more often.

  2. Wow, your quilts are beautiful. I’m sorry I haven’t by as much as I’d planned this month. I’m hoping to catch up later. I’ve sewed one quilt in my life. It was a simple one I did on my sewing machine. I had made it for my daughter. She passed away on July 16, 2008. She was 8 years old at the time. Her quilt is now actually on our bed as one of the blankets my husband and I use. In a way it’s like she’s a little bit closer to us. I started a dedication website in her honor called http://mommysangelinheaven.com. I can’t remember if I ever posted a picture of it on there or not. I know she used to roll up with it sometimes. You just gave me an idea for the letter Q on her site. I might do quilt now that I’ve seen what you put in her honor. It’s not always easy coming up with ideas but I think this one might be a keeper.
